Context
The City of Dortmund introduced a new visual identity.
Our task was to translate this existing brand design into motion for a central brand film - without altering its core visual language.
The challenge: creating emotional impact and narrative flow while staying consistent with a system that had to work beyond a single film.
Motion Idea
Motion defines rhythm, speed and dramaturgy across the film. Through pacing and transitions, movement supports the narrative and gives structure to the story.
The focus was on clarity and emotional continuity.
A city like no other needs a brand like no other.

Execution
Based on the provided design system, we developed motion principles for typography, imagery and transitions and applied them consistently throughout the film.
The visual story unfolds dynamically - from the smallest design details to the full force of the DO super symbol. Always with pulse, edge and a wink.
The result is a cohesive motion language that supports the story and can be extended to further brand applications.
Impact
The film captures Dortmund’s distinctive character through movement and rhythm.
Motion gives the story energy and flow, making the experience engaging to watch while expressing the city’s unique identity.
The result is a film that is enjoyable to watch and clearly communicates the city’s character without overstatement.
